Installation
The Autodesk desktop app replaces the Autodesk Application Manager for installing products, receiving product notifications, downloading updates, and accessing learning tools.
It is installed by default with all Windows-based Autodesk products. However, as an administrator you can prevent the installation of the Autodesk desktop app on workstations in your network when creating a deployment

Licensing
When performing a stand-alone installation, you no longer provide the serial number and product code during the installation process. Instead, you enter this information when you first launch the software.

For Suite Customers
Note: You can install Product Design Suite and Factory Design Suite on the same computer. If you install the Factory Design Suite on a computer that has the Product Design Suite, the Factory Design Utilities are added to the existing Inventor installation.
Recommended guidelines:

Both suites have the same license type (both network or both standalone).
The suites are the same edition (Standard, Premium, or Ultimate). If they are not, the highest level suite must be installed first. For example, if you have the Factory Design Suite Standard Edition and the Product Design Suite Ultimate Edition, install Product Design Suite before installing Factory Design Suite.

Note: Uninstalling an update should silently revert the Factory Design Utilities install to the previous update level. In the event the uninstall process doesn't fully restore to a previously installed update level, the required updates should be manually reinstalled as needed.

Updates can be applied to Factory Design Utilities installed as standalone software or installed as part of a Suite or Collection.

After applying an update, the product build in the About Box displays the update version and build number of the latest update you've installed.

Download Updates
You can install the Factory Design Utilities (FDU) release updates automatically from the Autodesk Desktop App.
