THE MEANING OF LIFE

Over the ages, determining the true meaning of life has preoccupied the attention of so many people. Many things happen in life that we yet do not fully understand.

Some people go to sleep and dream while sleeping. When they wake up, they remember exactly what they had dreamt. A short time later, which may be hours or days, those dreams come true. Events occur exactly as they had dreamt of them.

Some others even while they are awake, see visions that may appear before them in flashes as in watching a movie. These scenes may appear within so short a time, say, seconds or perhaps minutes. Shortly after, such events as seen in those visions occur in real life.

Many people wonder why for some people things of this nature happen on a regular basis. How and from what source do these people get advance information of events which are yet to occur? Why are some people not all so favoured?

When misfortune comes to people, some emerge from it stronger and better human beings. But for others, the heavy weight of misfortune crushes them, never to rise again. For them, they grow weaker with time, until they completely fade away.

In life’s journey, there are many thigns beyond our control. Natural events, with far-reaching consequences, may impose smile on our faces or bring tears to our eyes. Some people have an unfair share of living almost perpetually in pain and sorrow. Why should this be so?

As I travel in the journey of life, I have had some experiences that throw light on the meaning of life. I feel that is I should share these experiences with others, both near and far, as a contribution in the search for the true meaning of life.

I chose to condense these experiences in poems. I have tried using few words to examine many aspects of human nature. I am convinced that if we can truly understand the meaning of life, the world will be a better place. Many people may reconsider doing some of the things that they do to get temporary satisfaction but end up hurting others and even hurting our cherished environment.

The search for the true meaning of life should continue. When we succeed, it will be very helpful in building a new world where love of self and of neighbor will thrive and people will live in peace and be happy.
